The students of mathematics possibly come across the name of the Hungarian mathematician Paul Erdos (1913-1996) as one of the most prolific mathematicians of the 20th century. He has the unique distinction of publishing the highest number of scientific papers during his working life, which spanned over sixty years. The number of his research papers is close to 1500, as the exact number is yet to be ascertained. Suppose we want to have a comparative estimation of how big this number of publications is. In that case, we should know that publishing 100-150 papers in a working life of 55-60 years for very reputed mathematicians is phenomenal. The legendary Swiss mathematician Leonard Euler (1707-1783) who really gave the shape of modern mathematics in a big way, did write more pages on mathematics than Erdos.
