Naturally grown wild tropical orchids of West Bengal hold value for their vibrant and intricate beauty of colour, diversified shape and size of flowers, fragrance and ethnomedicinal properties. These orchids are mostly epiphytic and found to grow in the plains as well in the deciduous hill forests areas of Purulia (Ajoydhya & Baghmundi) and Bankura (Susunia and Biharinath) districts of easternmost of Chotonagpur plateau, tilla lands, riverbanks, roadsides and old mango orchards of Malda and Murshidabad districts.
