AC. How do you wish to walk down the memory lane as the first scientist to have patented genes in India? Please walk us through your journey in brief.

Prof. Asis Datta: My journey, as I recall, was an uphill one. I was born in Taki in 1944, West Bengal, and got my education from my paternal uncle’s house, as I had lost my father to illness before I was born.
