These flash floods, abrupt cloudbursts, and landslides have been a chaotic and unpredictable force, which is wiping away years of development, affecting endemic biodiversity and ecosystems as well. It is a clear reflection of the global climate crisis. Some regions of North India, such as Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, were affected by inundation and flash floods, while others in the North Western part were left parched. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) press release for September 2025, the overall seasonal rainfall was 8% above the Long Period Average (LPA), yet this surplus was not evenly distributed across the country.
