The door banged constantly as the visitors preferred to use it generously. Its counterpart kept on waiting for the sightseer but all in vain. It was almost over a decade when hardly anyone knocked at its door. ‘What happened? Why are you so sad?”, asked the English Commode to the squat toilet.

“I am not disappointed because no one is using me. I am concerned because people have forgotten the importance of the Indian style of toilet for a healthy lifestyle. Nowadays to empty the bowel, they prefer using western-style toilets. Everyone has completely forgotten my essence for a fitness routine. I am out of maintenance now too,” said the squat toilet anxiously.

The hustle-bustle of city life compelled these two styles of toilets, which had been installed on a footpath of a busy road, to ignore each other for quite a long time. While one is always occupied, the other goes unnoticed by the public.

The English commode asked with a sweet chuckle on its face, “Are you jealous of me?”
