C-CAMP wins National Technology Business Incubator Award from Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) has won the prestigious National Technology Business Incubator Award instituted by the Department of Science & Technology, (DST) Govt of India. In a prize ceremony to mark India’s 23rd National Technology Day in New Delhi on 11th May, 2022 C-CAMP CEO and Director, Dr.Taslimarif Saiyed received the award in presence of Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Department of Biotechnology, GoI secretary, Dr Rajesh Gokhale, DST secretary, Dr. S. Chandrasekhar, and Technology Development Board, GoI secretary, Shri Rajesh Pathak.

The Bioincubator established at C-CAMP with support from Bionest, BIRAC, NITIAayog-AIM, Ktech-Govt of Karnataka, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt of India currently has 40 resident incubatees, 10non-resident incubate across India and the globe and has supported 25 graduated incubatees over the years.

C-CAMP has also been leading the deep-science bio entrepreneurship ecosystem in India with several portfolio innovations breaking new ground in healthcare, agriculture, and the environment on a global scale. A significantly high percentage of them have also overcome the typically long gestation period in this high-risk sector with 45 of these, including 20+ COVID care-related products, already reaching the market. A few game-changing technologies are in the advanced stage and are set to hit the market in the coming year. C-CAMP has a portfolio of 5 licensed/spin-off technologies fostered by its translational research program incubated out of the C-CAMP Bioincubator.

Hon’ble Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh in his address stressed the need to boost science to society linkages for making the S&T ecosystem responsive to societal needs.

C-CAMP is an initiative supported by the Department of Biotechnology Govt of India.
