Nurturing Deep Science Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in India C-CAMP — A World-class Model

Historically, different S&T powerhouses across the globe have grown based on investment in deep, cutting-edge scienceand then leveraging such scientific advancements for societal impact. Science attains its maximum impact when it is taken to society and adapted to societal needs for quick adoption and integration of technology. This is known to catalyseboth societal and economic progress.

Deep Science Entrepreneurship as an entrepreneurial venture that commercializes and scales a scientific advancement that is novel, breakthrough or first-in-class is a vehicle that helps achieve this goal. But it takes a village to raise such a venture and that is where an enabling ecosystem comes into the picture. 

The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) is helping set up an ecosystem that nurtures and catalyzes such deep science innovations in India in close collaboration with multiple government agencies such as the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science & Technology-NSTEDB, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeiTY), Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), and NITIAayog-Atal Innovation Mission.
